According to the website "Downdetector.com," which tracks website outages, Facebook and Instagram, owned by Meta Platforms, experienced disruptions for thousands of users on Friday. More than 12,000 users reported issues with Facebook browsing, while over 6,600 users reported problems with Instagram. There were also more than 1,300 reports on Downdetector regarding outages on WhatsApp, the messaging service owned by Meta. Downdetector tracks outages by compiling status reports from various sources, including user-reported issues. Meta has not yet responded to a request for comment from Reuters.
