Release on Bail of the Owner of Tunisian Radio

The Tunisian radio station "Mosaic FM" reported today, Wednesday, that an appeals court has released media figure Nourredine Bouattar, the owner of the station, on bail after months of being detained alongside other prominent critics of Tunisian President Kais Saied. The station added that Bouattar is still forbidden from traveling and that the bail amounts to one million dinars (320,000 dollars). Bouattar was arrested in February amid a security campaign targeting opposition politicians, activists, and other prominent figures who criticized Saied, with many facing charges of conspiracy against state security. Additional detentions have occurred in recent weeks, including that of opposition leader and former parliament speaker Rached Ghannouchi, who was sentenced to a year in prison.
