Supreme Judicial Council Calls on Mikati and Moulawi to Revert Their Decisions

The Supreme Judicial Council issued the following statement: "In response to the decisions made by the Prime Minister and the Minister of Interior and Municipalities on 22/2/2023, numbers 292/S and 11/S, regarding 'the necessity of legal action and maintaining the smooth functioning of justice,' and in accordance with the principles of separation of powers and the independence of the judiciary enshrined in the Constitution and law, the Supreme Judicial Council calls upon the Prime Minister and the Minister of Interior and Municipalities to revert the aforementioned decisions, which undermine these principles. It reaffirms that it is working to ensure the conditions for the regular operation of the judiciary and the smooth functioning of justice, in accordance with applicable legal procedures, the public interest, and the supreme interest of the state."
