Beirut Municipality has removed the "craft tents" established along the Ain al-Mreisseh corniche, due to their lack of permits from the Beirut Governor. The stall owners were surprised, even though they had started preparing on Wednesday night to showcase and sell their products today. They were confronted by municipal police, who threatened to confiscate their goods and issue violation reports.
Exhibition organizer Faten Shahadeh explained to "Warda" that she had obtained approval from the municipal police authorities and the governor, but the official signing of the legal documents was delayed due to the Eid al-Adha holiday. In turn, the head of the Beirut Governorate Department, Samer Yaqoub, denied the claims made by the organizers, confirming that a decision was issued three years ago banning any activities along the waterfront promenade. He emphasized that the organizers were informed of the refusal to grant permits, and that they had been notified of the matter over ten days ago.
