The "National Free Movement" denied, in response to statements made by the head of the "Marda Movement," Suleiman Frangieh, during his television interview last night, that "its president, MP Gibran Bassil, has any role or connection to the Beirut Port deal as Frangieh claimed." The "movement" asked in a statement: "How can this be possible with a ministry, and there exists a file that the movement has no involvement in, neither closely nor remotely? And what can one expect from a presidential candidate who throws accusations at his political opponents and encourages his group to violate laws, except to reinforce a policy of protection from accountability?"
