Official data showed a slight decrease in annual inflation in Turkey to 55.18% in February, which was below expectations, following violent earthquakes that struck the southeast of the country and resulted in over 45,000 deaths less than a month ago. The Turkish Statistics Institute reported that "consumer prices rose 3.15% month-on-month," which is lower than the expected increase of 3.4% according to a Reuters poll, where the annual consumer price inflation was predicted to reach 55.5%. The local producer price index increased by 1.56% month-on-month in February, with a year-on-year increase of 76.61%.
