Macron: Paris Considers Granting Additional Caesar Howitzers to Ukraine

French President Emmanuel Macron announced that Paris is considering sending additional Caesar howitzers to Ukraine, which has been trying to repel the Russian army from its territory for over seven months. He stated during a press conference after the first meeting of the European Political Community in Prague, "We are working on several requests with many EU member states, particularly regarding additional (Caesar) howitzers."

Since the beginning of the conflict, France has provided Ukraine with 18 Caesar 155mm howitzers that have a range of up to 40 km, anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles, armored vehicles, fuel, individual equipment, and about fifteen TRF1 155mm howitzers.

An informed source told AFP that Paris is considering supplying Kyiv with six to twelve additional Caesar howitzers drawn from an order for Denmark. France is also examining the possibility of granting Kyiv 20 Bastion armored vehicles.

The French president clarified that EU countries will discuss these topics and some mechanisms on Friday at an informal summit in Prague, adding that he will provide more details during a press conference after this meeting. Macron emphasized, "We will continue to support Ukraine financially, humanitarianly, and militarily." He added, "This assistance will continue in terms of equipment and training, in line with what we have been doing for several months."

He continued, "We are moving forward based on the requests made and coordinating very closely among EU members and non-EU countries," referring to the United Kingdom.
