The website "Mizan," affiliated with the Iranian judiciary, reported today, Monday, that "Iran has executed two individuals for insulting sanctities." It stated that "Yousef Mehrdad and Sadrollah Fazeli Zare were executed after being convicted of crimes including offense to Islam and the Prophet Muhammad, as well as insulting the Imams and sacred things."
The report mentioned that "the two individuals were managing dozens of anti-religion platforms online that aimed to incite hatred against Islam, promote atheism, and insult sacred elements." Amnesty International wrote: "The execution of Yousef Mehrdad and Sadrollah Fazeli Zare today on the charge of 'apostasy' marks a shocking new low for the Iranian authorities and only increases Iran's isolation."
It added, "They were hanged solely for social media posts in a blatant attack on the rights to life and freedom of religion."
