The White House physician, Kevin O'Connor, announced that "U.S. President Joe Biden will undergo a root canal treatment today, Monday, after experiencing tooth pain." Biden's doctor noted in a message distributed to reporters that "the president felt dental pain on Sunday, which prompted his medical team to examine him and perform a root canal on that day." After experiencing increased pain this morning, which Dr. Kevin O'Connor described as expected, his medical team decided to "complete the president's root canal treatment today at the White House."
Dr. O'Connor wrote about the medical intervention, stating, "The president underwent the procedure (root canal) and everything went well... No complications occurred." A White House official indicated that Biden does not need anesthesia nor the transfer of power to Vice President Kamala Harris under the 25th Amendment during his treatment. This health issue prompted Biden to postpone his meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg to tomorrow, Tuesday, while Vice President Kamala Harris attended an event honoring collegiate athletes in his place.
