The Chinese embassy in London condemned a meeting that took place last week between British Minister of State for Security Tom Tugendhat and Taiwanese Digital Affairs Minister Audrey Tang, stating that it "violates international relations." A spokesman for the Chinese embassy in London said in a statement: "This step seriously violates the One China principle and the basic norms of international relations. It sends a very wrong signal to separatist forces for Taiwan's independence and grossly interferes in China's internal affairs. Therefore, China condemns and opposes it strongly." He added, "We want to clarify to the British side that any actions that undermine China's interests will be met with stern responses."
