UAE Relies on Mangrove Forests to Combat Climate Change

To address heat, urban expansion, and desert sands, the UAE is working to restore and renew the marshy waterways of coastal mangrove forests and plant them as part of an ambitious plan to combat climate change. Environmental expert Hamad Al-Jelani pointed out that "what makes these types of mangroves in Abu Dhabi unique is their extreme tolerance to harsh conditions, as they can withstand high salinity and elevated temperatures." He added, "Mangrove forests are very important concerning climate change as temperatures rise or become less stable around the world."
