The Olympic Committee Considers Revoking Recognition of the Boxing Association

The executive board of the International Olympic Committee recommended today, Wednesday, to withdraw recognition of the International Boxing Association due to its failure to implement a series of reforms. However, it also confirmed that the sport will be part of the Summer Games in Los Angeles 2028. The International Olympic Committee suspended the membership of the International Boxing Association in 2019 due to issues related to governance, financing, arbitration, and ethical concerns in the sport, and did not involve it in the management of boxing competitions at the Tokyo 2021 Olympics. Additionally, the Olympic Committee temporarily excluded the sport from the Los Angeles 2028 Games. The decision now just needs to be ratified in an International Olympic Committee session.
