Death of Egyptian Captain Burned off the Coasts of Turkey

The Secretary-General of the Maritime Officers Syndicate in Egypt, Mohamed El-Rawi, announced that the death of Third Marine Engineer Mohamed Al-Qassem, a member of the crew on the ship Beata, has been confirmed. The Egyptian captain died from burn injuries sustained during a fire on the ship in the Black Sea near the city of Trabzon, Turkey. The Secretary-General of the Maritime Officers Syndicate stated that the syndicate is coordinating to repatriate the body in the coming days while ensuring the rights of the Egyptian sailor from the ship's owning company and that his family receives the necessary compensation following his death while working on the ship, which was coming from Romania and caught fire in the Black Sea. A massive explosion had occurred aboard the cargo ship, most of whose crew were Egyptians, off the coasts of Turkey in the Black Sea, including citizens from Albania, Georgia, and Ukraine.
