Wildfires in Canada Devour Over Ten Million Hectares

Massive wildfires in Canada have consumed more than ten million hectares this year, an unprecedented area in the country's history, and it is expected to increase in the coming weeks. The previous record for burned areas was in 1989, when it reached 7.3 million hectares, according to national figures from the Canadian Wildland Fire Information System. In total, the country has recorded four thousand and eighty-eight wildfires since January, with 906 wildfires still ongoing, of which 570 are out of control.
