The Japanese Nikkei index opened lower today, Monday, declining by 0.41% to 32,647.08 points. The broader Topix index fell 0.25% to 2,259.14 points. The Nikkei index has not decreased for more than two consecutive sessions since it began its current upward trend in mid-March. The broader Topix index lost 0.2% to 2,260.17 points. Shares of semiconductor manufacturing companies saw the largest declines in the Nikkei, with Tokyo Electron's stock down 0.83% and Advantest's stock down 1%.
