The Vice President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, announced a global first with the Hope Probe coming within 100 km of Mars' moon "Deimos" and capturing the clearest image ever obtained by humans of this moon.
Bin Rashid stated: "The theories tell us that this moon is an outer asteroid captured in Mars' orbit... The Hope Probe refutes this theory, demonstrating through its instruments and team that this moon was likely part of Mars and separated from it millions of years ago, just like Earth's moon, which was once part of Earth and has since separated."
He added: "We are proud of our young scientists... Proud of our sciences... Proud of our contribution to the advancement of human knowledge."
