A survey released today, Monday, indicated that "business sentiment in Germany increased slightly in April, supported by improved company expectations. This strengthens positive indicators as the largest economy in Europe hopes to avoid a recession in the winter months. The "Ifo Institute" reported that "the reading of its business climate index reached 93.6 after a revised March reading of 93.2. Its president, Clemens Fuest, stated that "German companies' concerns are easing, but the economy still lacks dynamism." The increase came in lower than analysts' expectations in a Reuters poll, which forecasted 94.0.
