Bloomberg News reported today that the French nuclear fuel company "Orano" has halted uranium ore processing at one of its facilities in Niger because international sanctions against the military council are hindering logistical services. Statistics from the World Nuclear Association indicate that Niger, which has the highest quality uranium ores in Africa, produced 2020 tons of uranium in 2022, accounting for about five percent of global mine production.
