Dozens of people were killed and several children were kidnapped in Nigeria on Sunday by armed individuals in separate attacks in two northern states, according to police and local residents. Residents reported that armed men attacked the villages of Janbako and Sakida in the northwestern state of Zamfara on Saturday, resulting in the deaths of 24 people. The gunmen also kidnapped several children who were gathering firewood in the nearby village of Jora. Zamfara police spokesman Yazid Abubakar confirmed the attacks, stating, "It has been reported that 13 people were killed and nine boys and girls were kidnapped."
