Asteroid Strikes Earth's Atmosphere as Fireball Over Europe

An asteroid struck the Earth's atmosphere early yesterday morning, just hours after it was discovered, transforming into a spectacular fireball seen across Europe. The asteroid was discovered by astronomer Christian Sarneski at the Pécs Observatory in Hungary, according to a statement from the European Space Agency. The agency mentioned that astronomers worldwide continued to monitor the asteroid until it became "invisible" as it fell into Earth's shadow. NASA explains that the term fireball refers to any bright meteor that burns up in the Earth's atmosphere.
