In his Sunday sermon, Maronite Patriarch Bechara Raï called for support for the budget of the Lebanese University, which has declined dangerously. He added, "Lebanon's identity and message are threatened by distortion and collapse due to the failure to adhere to the constitution and the implementation of the Taif Agreement both in text and spirit."
He thanked the committee of five nations for bearing the concern of Lebanon and its future more than the Lebanese authorities, who continue to cause destruction. Patriarch Raï demanded "the return of Syrian refugees to their homeland so that they can maintain their identity and message in their country, and so that they do not cause distortion of Lebanon's identity and message."
