The editorial teams of "Le Monde" and "Libération" announced on Sunday that their correspondents in Burkina Faso were expelled on Saturday evening, describing the action as "arbitrary" and "unacceptable." The newspaper "Le Monde" wrote on its website: "Our correspondent in Burkina Faso, Sophie Douce, was just expelled from the country, along with her colleague from Libération, Agnès Vivre." For its part, "Libération" commented: "The punishment came with the confirmation that press freedom in Burkina Faso is severely threatened." Last Monday, the military council governing Burkina Faso suspended the broadcast of "France 24" in the country after it aired an interview with the leader of the "Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb."
