The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced on Thursday that it is tracking a new strain of the virus responsible for COVID-19. In a post on the social media platform "X," they stated that "the strain is called (BA.2.86) and has been detected in the United States, Denmark, and Israel." The CDC added, "The advice from the Centers for Disease Control to protect yourselves from COVID-19 remains the same while we gather more information about (BA.2.86)." Earlier, the World Health Organization indicated that it classified (BA.2.86) as a "variant under monitoring" due to the large number of mutations it carries.
