Polish pilot Luk Czipiela, 39, successfully landed his aircraft on the helipad of the Burj Al Arab hotel in Dubai, achieving a historic milestone in aviation. The shortest runway in the world measures 400 meters, while the helipad only offers a small area of 27 meters for landing. This is the first experiment of its kind globally, as he executed a short landing with a fixed-wing aircraft on a circular platform designed for helicopters, located 212 meters above ground next to the 56-story hotel building.
The official account of the Dubai government's media office tweeted: "In a world-first achievement at 212 meters high, Polish pilot Luk Czipiela succeeds in landing his aircraft on the helipad atop the Burj Al Arab hotel in Dubai. He prepared for this mission since 2021 and completed 650 test landings."
