Russian Court Decides to Detain American on Espionage Charges

Russian news agencies reported today, Thursday, that a court in Moscow has decided to detain American citizen of Russian descent "Gene Spector" on suspicion of involvement in espionage activities. The agencies did not provide any details about the charges, but Russian news agency RIA indicated that Spector was sentenced in 2022 to three and a half years in prison for his role in bribing a former deputy prime minister of Russia, Arkady Dvorkovich. Interfax noted that the court session was held behind closed doors after the materials related to the case were classified as confidential.
