OPEC: We Did Not Invite Guyana to Join the Organization

The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) stated today, Tuesday, that it has not invited Guyana to join its membership. OPEC mentioned that it invited Guyana's Minister of Natural Resources, Vikram Bharat, to participate in its eighth international seminar scheduled for July 5 and 6 in Vienna. The Wall Street Journal reported yesterday, Monday, that Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman and OPEC Secretary-General Haitham Al Ghais extended an invitation to Guyana to join the group.
