Russia and China Continue to Strengthen Military Cooperation

The Russian news agency "TASS" reported today, Friday, that the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Valery Gerasimov, stated that "Russia and China will continue to expand their military cooperation." The agency noted that "Gerasimov invited his Chinese counterpart to visit Russia." Gerasimov was quoted as saying, "Joint training on operations and combat between the Russian and Chinese armed forces should remain an important aspect of upcoming activities." The Chinese Ministry of Defense indicated that "Liu Qunli, the Chief of Joint Staff of the Central Military Commission of China, held discussions with Gerasimov via video link today, Friday." The ministry added, "Qunli and Gerasimov exchanged insights on expanding cooperation between the two militaries."
