The Public Prosecutor's Office issued a second travel ban today, Wednesday, for the Governor of the Central Bank of Lebanon, Riad Salameh. It requested the Interpol office in Beirut to correspond with the international Interpol office to obtain the extradition file from Germany.
Lebanese authorities are still awaiting the French extradition file, which has not yet arrived in Lebanon.
The Central Bank Governor appeared before the public prosecutor, Judge Imad Qablan, regarding the German arrest warrant at the courthouse in Beirut today. Germany had verbally notified Lebanon of the issuance of an arrest warrant against him. He is under investigation for allegations of money laundering and embezzlement in his country and abroad, which he denies. Additionally, Lebanon received a warrant from Interpol to arrest Riad Salameh following the issuance of a warrant from France against him.
