Death of Lebanese Director and Actor Sami Khayat

Lebanese director, writer, and theater actor Sami Khayat passed away today, Wednesday. Khayat is considered one of the pioneers of comedic theater in Lebanon. He began his artistic career with a play he presented in 1960, titled "Molière, Hugo, and Sophocles." His plays were classified as satirical musical theater. In 2020, he was awarded the French Order of Arts and Letters at the rank of Officer, in recognition of his theatrical works in both French and Franco-Lebanese for 60 years, during which he remained active even amidst the Lebanese Civil War. He was honored on numerous occasions in Lebanon by the Gibran Tueni Foundation and the Fakhr al-Din II Foundation. Some of his works include "Yes for Lias," "Abu Klebs," "Star Epidemic," "Mine Dir Rien," "Kouma Sava," "Karafe," and "Baabda Boom."
