Title: Morocco Imposes Restrictions on Tomato Exports

The president of the main union of vegetable and fruit exporters in Morocco, Hussein Adradour, announced today, Friday, that Morocco has restricted tomato exports since late February and imposed a complete ban last week until yesterday, Thursday, to reduce local prices. He added that "exporters received a quota of 1,000 tons, which is less than their usual quota of 1,500 tons." Adradour clarified that the restrictions do not apply to high-priced products such as cherry tomatoes, which represent more than half of the country's tomato exports. Adverse weather conditions in Morocco and Spain have damaged vegetable crops this year, leading to a decrease in the availability of fresh vegetable dishes in Europe and rising prices, which have contributed to inflation in the United Kingdom reaching 10.4 percent. Traders are concerned that the reduction in exports will impact their share in their main markets in the European Union and Britain.
