Ukraine: Severe Damage Inflicted on Russian 72nd Brigade

The Ukrainian army confirmed early Thursday that "its forces have inflicted severe damage on the separate 72nd Russian brigade near Bakhmut," noting that "the city located in eastern Ukraine remains the main target for Moscow." The spokesperson for Ukrainian forces in the eastern region, Serhii Cherevati, stated that "the situation in Bakhmut remains difficult, but Moscow has increasingly had to rely on regular army forces due to heavy losses within the Wagner Group." The head of Wagner, Yevgeny Prigozhin, which is fighting in Bakhmut, mentioned on Tuesday that "the separate 72nd Russian brigade has abandoned its positions."
