The Kamchatka branch of the Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences reported an earthquake off the eastern coast of the Kamchatka Peninsula in the Russian Far East. In a statement today, the branch noted that tremors measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale were felt by residents of the Ust-Kamchatsky district, according to "Russia Today." The statement said: "Residents of the Ust-Kamchatsky region felt an earthquake measuring four degrees. The tremors were recorded at a magnitude of 4.2 at the epicenter, which occurred 30 kilometers from the town of Ust-Kamchatsky." According to the statement, the epicenter of the earthquake was located four kilometers deep beneath the mountain range. The Kamchatka Emergency Department reported no injuries or damage in residential areas of the region, and no tsunami warning has been issued.
