Argentina: Discovery of a New Species of Giant Dinosaurs

Argentine fossil scientists have discovered remains of a new species of giant herbivorous dinosaurs that lived 90 million years ago. The National Council for Scientific and Technical Research indicates that "the newly discovered species has been named chucarosaurus diripienda." Scientist Matheus Motta states, "Based on the length of the discovered femur, which is about two meters long, we believe this dinosaur weighed between 40 and 50 tons and was approximately 30 meters long. Compared to other giant dinosaur species, the bones of this species are thinner." He added, "This suggests that it was more agile compared to other giant dinosaurs." Scientists note that the new species belongs to the sauropod family, from which remains of two dinosaurs were found during an exploratory trip in Río Negro province in 2019.
