Military prosecutor Michel Kashii announced today, Tuesday, that at least 56 people have died due to a crackdown by the army on violent protests against the United Nations in Goma, eastern Congo, last week. Six soldiers have been charged with involvement in the killings. The government had previously reported the death toll as 43.
