Dozens of flights were disrupted at Germany's main airports in Berlin and Hamburg, as security and ground services staff organized a one-day strike in protest against wages. Berlin-Brandenburg Airport, which serves the capital, announced that all departing flights were canceled and that some arrivals would also be affected after the Verdi union called on security workers to strike until midnight. A spokesperson for the airport stated that around 240 flights were scheduled to take off. Ground handling service employees at Hamburg Airport also called for a 24-hour strike. The airport indicated that incoming flights or those serviced by other airlines are not expected to be affected by the strike.
