The spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Nasser Kanani, has called on the French government and police to exercise restraint, reject violence, and pay attention to the demands of protesters in France. Kanani noted that discrimination against migrants and the refusal to accept them, along with the incorrect treatment by some European countries, has created inappropriate conditions for European citizens, including those in France. He stressed that the French government should respect the principles of human dignity, freedom of expression, and the right to peaceful protest for its citizens, and cease arbitrary treatment of its citizens. Kanani confirmed that Iran is closely monitoring the unfolding events in France. Iran has also urged its citizens residing in France to avoid unnecessary travel in cities and areas witnessing clashes, due to the unsafe and unpredictable conditions in the country, and advised them to minimize non-essential travel to France given the current crisis.
