The Vatican announced today, Wednesday, that Pope Francis is recovering normally and without complications after undergoing surgery in recent days. It is expected that Pope Francis will be discharged from the hospital in the coming days to resume his usual activities, after the Vatican canceled all of the Pope's private and public meetings until June 18th. Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni stated in a press release, "The Pope spent the night resting. The medical team says he is recovering normally without complications, and therefore they intend to allow his discharge (from the hospital) in the coming days." Bruni confirmed that the Pope is attending to his duties while staying in the hospital and is also spending some time in the small chapel located in the papal suite on the tenth floor.
