Vatican: The Necessity of Holding Presidential Elections in Lebanon

Lebanon's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Abdullah Bou Habib, was informed of the Vatican's supportive stance on the necessity of holding presidential elections as soon as possible. This is considered an essential starting point for initiating the pathway to solutions and reforms in Lebanon and for the regular functioning of institutions. The importance of continuing dialogue and enhancing the atmosphere of understandings to find sustainable and just solutions to the crises in the Middle East was emphasized during his visit to Rome. Bou Habib began his visit with a meeting with the Secretary of State of the Vatican, Cardinal Pietro Parolin. The discussions addressed the situation and developments in the Middle East and the presidential vacancy crisis in Lebanon and ways to resolve it. He also met with the Vatican's Foreign Minister, Cardinal Paul Richard Gallagher, to discuss regional issues and Lebanon.
