The leader of the coup in Niger, Abdrahmane Tiani, rejected on Wednesday the sanctions imposed by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in response to last week's coup, describing them as illegal, unfair, and inhumane. In a televised speech, he stated that Niger would not succumb to regional and international pressures to restore President Mohamed Bazoum to power.
