Will the Implementation of the 15,000 Lira Affect the Exchange Rate?

Economic expert Louis Habib stated that "raising the official exchange rate to 15,000 Lira will not affect the free dollar exchange rate, with the confirmation that this step was necessary on the path to unifying the exchange rate, but the matter needs more time." He mentioned in an interview with "Voice of Lebanon" that "this measure, if it remains isolated, will not contribute to controlling the parallel market that reflects the actual price of the Lebanese Lira." He clarified that "the effects of this measure will remain within the framework of withdrawals at the price of 15,000 Lira, noting that citizens' focus on withdrawals could raise prices."
