The Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, accepted the resignation of the government headed by Sheikh Ahmed Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and tasked it with conducting business until a new government is formed following the announcement of parliamentary election results. According to the Kuwait News Agency, an "Amiri order was issued to accept the resignation of the Prime Minister and the ministers, who will continue to handle urgent matters of their positions until the new cabinet is formed."
The Kuwaiti Crown Prince Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah received Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmed Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah earlier today, where he presented the government's resignation.
This comes after the announcement of the results of the Kuwaiti parliamentary elections last Friday, where the composition of the previous council changed by approximately 54%, while 12 MPs from previous councils returned to the Kuwaiti Parliament.
The current Kuwaiti government has set October 11 as the date for the inaugural session of the National Assembly. They also confirmed that the new government formation will be announced before that session.
