Turkey Warns Russia After Black Sea Incident

The Turkish presidency announced in a post today, Thursday, on the platform "X" (formerly Twitter), that Turkish authorities warned their Russian counterparts following the incident involving a cargo ship in international waters of the Black Sea. The presidency stated, "Following the incident with the ship, the Russian counterparts were warned appropriately to avoid such attempts that could escalate tensions in the Black Sea." Russia stated on Sunday that its patrol vessel Vasily Bekov fired gunshots at the ship Sokru Okan, which flies the Palauan flag, for the captain's failure to respond to a request to stop for inspection.
