Indian Police Arrest Sikh Separatist

The police arrested separatist Amritpal Singh, a member of the Sikh community, after searching for him for over a month in Rod village in the Moga district of Punjab, according to a senior Punjab police official. The arrest of Singh (30 years old), who leads a group called Waris Punjab De (Heirs of Punjab), came after he and hundreds of his supporters stormed a police station with swords and firearms, demanding the release of one of his aides. At that time, the police accused him and his supporters of attempted murder, obstructing law enforcement, and inciting disputes, stating that he had been on the run since mid-March. He will be transferred to Assam, where some of his associates are in prison.
