French government spokesman Olivier Véran confirmed on Wednesday that "military officials from France and Niger are engaged in discussions to coordinate operations on the ground." Véran also reiterated, during a weekly press conference, France's stated position on the elected president Mohamed Bazoum, who is currently detained following a coup, and whom France considers the legitimate leader of the country.
