The Indonesian National Board for Disaster Management reported that a 6.4 magnitude earthquake occurred off the coast of the Indonesian island of Java on Friday evening, resulting in injuries to at least 10 people. One person died from a heart attack. Council spokesman Abdul Mahari told Reuters on Saturday that the earthquake caused minor damage to hundreds of homes, as well as some offices and health and educational facilities in the Yogyakarta region and Central Java province. The Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency noted that the earthquake, which occurred at a depth of 25 kilometers, was felt by residents in several cities. No tsunami warning was issued.
