Footage broadcast by the agency showed flames coming from shattered windows on the second floor of a building in the Shinbashi area of the Japanese capital. Witnesses noted that a smell of gas was detected before hearing the explosion.
The extent of the damage appeared to be limited, and the fire did not spread.
