No Presidential Session Before Serious Candidates Exist!

MP Ahmed Rustum revealed that "things are still unclear regarding the presidential entitlement, and during their recent visit to Speaker of the House Nabih Berri, they urged him to expedite the scheduling of a session for electing a president. His response was that he would not call for such a session before there are serious candidates because people are tired of the farce of the blank ballot and the negative atmosphere it creates among the Lebanese." Rustum said in an interview with the electronic newspaper "Al-Anbaa": "Unfortunately, there are no positive indicators to spark any change, as the country's structure requires the election of a president by the majority of MPs. This matter necessitates parliamentary consensus, and this majority is waiting for the green light to come from abroad." He added: "We expected a positive stance from the quintet meeting that took place in the French capital to support Lebanon a few days ago, but unfortunately, nothing happened. All files seem stagnant, and even those placed on the table are just to pass the time. It has become clear that the settlement is in another place and is likely still far off."
