Turkish President's Comments on Election Results

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, in his first comment after the announcement of the Turkish election results, greeted the Turkish people, saying: "The elections were held in a celebratory atmosphere befitting our democracy, and the winner is democracy and the Turkish nation. I thank all citizens, numbering 56 million, who expressed their valuable votes. Turkey has shown that it is one of the countries with the most advanced democratic culture in the world." He added: "We will double the votes we received in the first round and achieve victory." He continued: "We will emerge victorious from the elections on May 28, increasing the voter turnout, and we hope to achieve historic success."
