Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated today, Sunday, that hastening the announcement of election results while the vote-counting process is still ongoing equates to stealing the will of the people. Meanwhile, his opponent Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu urged electoral authorities to record all results nationwide. Erdoğan expressed on Twitter in his first message since the voting ended: "While the elections were held in a positive and democratic atmosphere, and the counting process is still ongoing, any attempt to hastily announce the results means usurping national will."
Kılıçdaroğlu, Erdoğan's rival, tweeted: "We will not sleep tonight," calling for all ballots to be counted.
