Zlatan Ibrahimović has become the oldest player to score a goal in the history of Italy's Serie A, but this achievement was not enough to save Milan from a 3-1 defeat against hosts Udinese, dealing a blow to the title holder's hopes of finishing the season in the top four. Udinese took the lead after nine minutes when Lazar Samardzic seized on a misplaced pass from Ismaël Bennacer in midfield and advanced into the penalty area, allowing Roberto Pereyra to finish the move with a goal.
There was confusion at the Dacia Arena when Ibrahimović missed a penalty for Milan after a handball late in the first half. The referee ordered a retake due to an infraction, despite play having already resumed for a minute. The Swedish striker did not miss on the second attempt, scoring in the fourth minute of stoppage time and becoming the oldest player to score in the competition at 41 years and 166 days old.
However, the celebrations were short-lived as Beto restored Udinese's lead just two minutes later, converting an Isaac Success cross from close range. Udinese sealed the victory with a goal from Kingsley Ehizibue in the 70th minute. Milan missed the chance to move up to second place and remains fourth with 48 points, just one point ahead of fifth-placed Roma, who faces Lazio in the capital derby today. Udinese occupies the eighth position with 38 points.
